【 本 報 綜 合 報 道 】 加 拿 大 寵 物 食 品 製 造 商 Menu Foods 在 美 國 生 產 的 肉 汁 類 濕 糧 食 品 ， 有 寵 物 進 食 後 出 現 嘔 吐 及 腎 衰 竭 ， 其 中 十 隻 貓 狗 死 亡 。 製 造 商 宣 布 回 收 八 十 八 個 品 牌 、 共 六 千 萬 件 問 題 貓 及 狗 糧 ， 其 中 Iams 、 Eukanuba 及 Science Diet 等 在 港 有 售 的 名 牌 亦 須 回 收 。 暫 未 知 本 港 的 產 品 是 否 同 樣 受 影 響 ， 漁 農 自 然 護 理 署 正 了 解 事 件 。
愛 護 動 物 協 會 發 言 人 指 出 ， 該 會 獸 醫 並 未 接 獲 進 食 上 述 食 糧 而 染 病 的 貓 狗 個 案 ， 但 該 會 為 安 全 起 見 ， 暫 停 出 售 一 款 Iams 的 袋 裝 貓 糧 ， 直 至 聯 絡 到 供 應 商 後 再 作 決 定 。
宣 布 收 回 六 千 萬 件
百 佳 超 級 市 場 發 言 人 指 出 ， 有 售 Iams 的 五 款 濕 糧 ， 雖 然 未 知 是 否 由 涉 事 廠 房 生 產 ， 但 仍 決 定 暫 時 停 售 有 關 產 品 ， 稍 後 再 向 供 應 商 了 解 詳 情 。 惠 康 則 並 無 出 售 須 回 收 的 寵 物 食 品 。
Menu Foods 因 接 獲 多 宗 寵 物 貓 、 狗 進 食 肉 汁 類 食 糧 後 嘔 吐 及 腎 衰 竭 ， 更 有 十 隻 死 亡 ， 因 此 宣 布 回 收 六 千 萬 件 罐 裝 及 袋 裝 寵 物 糧 。 該 公 司 網 頁 www.menufoods.com/recall 上 ， 公 布 四 十 款 貓 糧 及 四 十 八 款 狗 糧 回 收 品 牌 名 單 ， 並 指 涉 事 產 品 去 年 十 二 月 三 日 至 本 月 六 日 ， 在 該 公 司 兩 間 位 於 美 國 的 廠 房 生 產 ， 主 要 在 美 國 、 加 拿 大 及 墨 西 哥 出 售 。
該 公 司 曾 委 託 專 家 進 行 測 試 ， 仍 未 能 找 出 真 正 肇 因 ， 只 發 現 上 述 生 產 期 內 的 產 品 ， 均 採 用 一 家 新 供 應 商 提 供 的 小 麥 麵 筋 作 原 材 料 。 Menu Foods 已 停 用 該 原 料 ， 該 公 司 估 計 ， 是 次 回 收 涉 款 達 二 千 六 百 萬 至 三 千 四 百 萬 美 元 （ 約 二 億 至 二 億 六 千 萬 港 元 ） 。
